THE GOOD
The cover design is creative and intriguing.
Jed and Kelly-Rae successfully encapsulate their holiday exploits. Nice to have a weather roundup, but using a photo from 2007 to illustrate was dubious, at best. Would have been better to have just gone without a photo.
Student Spotlight zoned in on vo-tech graduate Kevin Teats. Not clear, though, what his current role in ACLCSC is; is he a senator?
Excellent stuff in A&E from Kaylee, Jeremiah and Alex. All well-written and insightful pieces. Particularly revealing (and not in a good way) was the fact that the new rib joint imports rotisserie chicken from Costco.
Sports section was brimming with news. Jed's analysis of the men's basketball team was the highlight.
Word on the Street introduced readers to five more fascinating LCSC students. Probably should have put quote marks around their responses, however.
THE NOT-SO-GOOD
Journalistic style deals with events in a time-date-place chronology. In the brief about the megaloads debate, it should have read: "The debate will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday in Meriwether Lewis Hall Room 100." Remember: time-date-place, in that order.
Album titles in the list on Page 8 all needed quote marks.
Not sure of the source of the story on the cross-country team's performance at nationals. News release or something staff-generated?
